An initiative of the City Museum Friends Association for the conservation of the collection of 111 illustrations named "Avenida Central Pictures" by Marc Ferrez (1843-1923), sponsored by the the National Bank for Economic and Social Development (BNDES).
The boards illustrate the opening of Avenida Central, Mayor Pereira Passos' project, which was recorded by Marc Ferrez between 1903 and 1906.
The collection was composed of Zincography (prints embossed on zinc, printed on paper) and photozincography (etching zinc, wherein the image transfer is done by means of photography. Printed on paper, there are two other sheets of the same weight attached to the main support, to give it greater hardness).
The project main objective was damage treatment (rips, detachments, stains, dirt, holes and support losses) and packaging of photographer Marc Ferrez's pictures. All was carried out by restorer Denise Regis Viana in 2006.
